Let’s get started
Well Hello there, great that you have found your way to this little blog of mine.
Who might I be you ask?
Well I am Tinkerbell, an outdoor enthusiast taking a wee little break from my real life to charge up before starting on my thesis work.
In the past I have already taken on a few adventures. From hiking, biking and canoeing in Sweden, hiking the Jotunheimstien in Norway, taking a road trip around New Zealand with multiple hikes all over the country as well as my biggest trip, hiking the Camino Frances from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela and onwards to Fisterra and Muxia. Someday I might even write these adventures up and share them with others, but for now I will be focusing on the adventures to come.
In 2020 I embarked on my biggest adventure to date, almost thru-hiking the South Island of Te Araroa in New Zealand. The adventure was unfortunately riddled with some injuries and in the end cut short due to the pandemic in March 2020, but overall I had a great time. You can find an account of the trip in the category Te Araroa SI.
Since then I have mad a number of trips on popular trails around Australia, with highlights including the Larapinta Trail, the Overland Track as well as the Grampians Peaks Trail (the last was nice, but also VERY overpriced!).
Over the years I have been yearning for a longer trek again. Something where I would just be walking for weeks on end. I wanted to do the Australian Alps Walking Trek in 2022, but unfortunately broke my arm beforehand and changing plans to a roadtrip around Tasmania. That hike is still on my list, and would have been planned for the Summer 24/25, but timing with other commitments as well as the forecast that the fire season is predicted to be bad have me postponing this.
So, summer is here, and I have made the decision to go back to New Zealand to experience some of the highlights of the TA and also cover some sections that I couldn’t do last time. This time I will be heading NOBO, hopefully building my strength gradually before hitting Nelson Lakes and the Richmond Ranges. The plan is to travel from Queenstown all the way to the end of the Richmonds. I am planning to keep a similar record to the last time. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to leave a comment if you have something to note.
